PROFILE

The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation of all necessary legal documentation within the Corporate Banking/Financial Services department. This position requires 8+ years of directly related experience, including managing a heavy file load. This position receives some direction or guidance, although most tasks and objectives are accomplished independently.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The incumbent's responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Prepare and issue all documents necessary, from start to completion on all commercial banking transactions
  • Drafting of agreements, contracts and financing documents
  • Review of leases and leasing agreements
  • Responsible for independent file management
  • Manage trust accounting and reporting
  • Liaise with all internal and external parties involved with the proceedings, including preparation of correspondence. 
  • Review correspondence and respond.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years as a Law Clerk/Paralegal with emphasis on Banking/Financial Services
  • Law Clerk/Paralegal or Legal Assistant Diploma/Certificate
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other Firm members, with the aptitude to take care of  clients’ needs in a professional and courteous manner
  • Capacity to work independently, as well as in a team environment
  • In-depth knowledge of legal terminology and principles
  • The ability to analyze legal documents for accuracy
  • Produce a high quality and quantity of work product, occasionally under tight timelines
  • Able to prioritize and to redefine priorities when necessary
  • Handle stress in a business-like manner
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
