Thomson Reuters ranks Gowlings as Canada's busiest M&A law firm in H1 2012

Jul. 3, 2012

TORONTO, ON – Thomson Reuters has released its Mergers & Acquisitions Review: Legal Advisors – First Half 2012. The results confirm Gowlings’ position as Canada’s busiest M&A law firm.

Thomson Reuters ranked Gowlings as the leading Canadian law firm for the number of worldwide M&A deals in H1 2012, with advisory roles in 82 announced deals (for an 11th place ranking among all law firms globally) and 68 completed deals (13th place among all law firms) during the first six months of the year.

Gowlings also held top position for Canadian M&A transactions completed in the first half, with credit for 64 completed deals.

While 2012 has seen the number of M&A deals globally down by 17% from the same period last year, the results from Thomson Reuters paint a picture of Gowlings as a firm with an extraordinarily high level of M&A activity.
