Emma Macfarlane is a patent agent in Gowlings' Vancouver office. Her practice involves patent drafting and prosecution, as well as providing strategic IP portfolio counselling and assisting clients with management of their IP portfolios. Emma’s practice covers the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, agritech, medical device and greentech sectors.

Emma is a registered patent agent in both Canada and the United States. Prior to joining Gowlings, Emma worked for several years in academic research and, for over ten years, as a patent agent for a Canadian IP boutique.
