(Disponible en anglais seulement) James Baker is a partner and registered Canadian and U.S. patent agent in Gowlings' Ottawa office. A member of the Intellectual Property Group, James practises in the area of patent drafting and prosecution, with an emphasis in the fields of organic and inorganic chemistry as well as chemical engineering and mechanical engineering. He also participates in litigation support and in patent portfolio management. James is a member of Gowlings' Energy and Infrastructure Group, Life Science Industry Group, Technology Industry Group and the Patent Prosecution Group.
In university, his honours thesis focused on the study of the stability and behaviour of perimidine based carbene ligands and transition metal complexes. James' research was recognized and awarded by the Canadian Society for Chemistry.
