(Disponible en anglais seulement) Weiqing (Jane) Jin is a counsel in Gowlings' Vancouver office and a licensed practitioner of foreign (China) law in British Columbia. Her areas of practice include Chinese business law and Canadian immigration law. Jane is also co-chair of the China Initiative Group in Vancouver.
Jane has been involved in almost all China-related mergers and acquisitions transactions at Gowlings in various industries, including mining, forestry, hospitality, life sciences, and oil & gas. Her clients include China’s national flag air carrier and largest liner shipping company, China-based coal mining and nonferrous metal companies, financial institutions, advanced manufacturers, bio-tech companies, commercial real estate companies and alternative energy companies.
Jane is also a member of Gowlings' Immigration National Practice Group. Her practice emphasizes business immigration and provincial nominee programs (PNP). Additionally, she assists in the development of immigration and work permit strategies for a wide variety of clients; from advising on obtaining permanent resident status to a wide variety of issues relating to the cross-border movement of personnel.
She acts as counsel to the Association of China-based Enterprises in Vancouver, an association of major Chinese State Owned Enterprises. As an expert in her field, Jane is regularly invited to provide comments with respect to Chinese business law in local radio programs.
Prior to joining Gowlings, Jane was a partner at a prominent Chinese national law firm, practising business law, corporate restructuring, financing and mergers & acquisitions. In addition to having 17 years of experience as a legal expert, Jane has valuable and comprehensive knowledge of key industry sectors. She was vice president of Jiangsu Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export Firms, worked at Beijing Municipal Bureau of Commerce, and was a senior officer at one of the China’s largest manufacturing companies, in the positions of general counsel and vice-president.
Jane is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
