Richard Heath is a senior policy adviser for intellectual property in Gowlings' London office. With his extensive experience, Richard is available to advise in policy and strategy to blue chip companies and governments with an emphasis on anti-counterfeiting, brand protection and IP policy.

A former vice-president legal and global anti-counterfeiting counsel at Unilever PLC in London, U.K, Richard is a well-known presence in IP, bringing with him a particular expertise in policy and strategy advice to blue chip companies and governments with an emphasis on anti-counterfeiting and brand protection. He works closely with Gowlings’ offices in London, Moscow and across Canada.

Named as one of the top 50 most influential people in intellectual property by Managing Intellectual Property magazine for five years, Richard continues to be actively involved in the IP community.  He has wide experience of IP issues across the globe from portfolio management to litigation and dealing with Government policy on IP, in the later role he has testified before U.S. Congress House of Representatives Judiciary Committee.
