(Disponible en anglais seulement) Ross Wells is the managing partner of Gowlings' Waterloo Region office. His practice is focused in the area of labour and employment law, including the provision of counsel and advice to employers, litigation of disputes in the area of labour and employment and advocacy before administrative tribunals. In addition to his experience in employment law, in both the union and non-union sectors, Ross has been engaged in constitutional litigation, including claims under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
He was previously the Managing Partner of the Firm’s Waterloo Region office from 1994 to 1998 and prior to that, practised in the Firm's Toronto office for 10 years.
Ross has argued cases in the Supreme Court of Canada, the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Divisional Court, and has represented parties at trials in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Federal Court of Canada. He has significant experience in the area of drug and alcohol testing, having acted for a major Canadian employer in an effort to advance the employer's right to conduct such testing.
Ross has appeared before numerous administrative tribunals, including the Ontario Labour Relations Board, the Workers' Compensation Appeal Tribunal and the Pension Appeal Board, as well as before disciplinary committees governing various professions, including the Ontario College of Nurses and the Law Society of Upper Canada. He has also appeared at numerous coroners' inquests.
