(Disponible en anglais seulement) Scott Foster is an associate and member of the Intellectual Property Group in Gowlings' Vancouver office. Scott's practice focuses primarily on contentious IP in the fields of trade-marks, copyright, trade-secrets and breach of confidence, and patents; particularly cases involving technical subject matter in pharmaceuticals, electronics, medical devices, biotechnology and chemistry. Scott became a registered trade-mark agent in Canada in 2011.
Scott qualified as an English solicitor in 2004 and worked in the Intellectual Property department of Baker & Mckenzie in London until 2006. At Baker & Mckenzie, Scott's practice encompassed a range of both contentious and non-contentious aspects of IP law including trade-marks, patents, copyright and the internet. Scott has experience of IP enforcement and brand protection work, and was involved in enforcement programs in the U.K. and throughout Europe for a wide range of clients in varied industries including pharmaceuticals, electronics and luxury goods.
In 2006, Scott moved to Bristows in London to focus on patent litigation. Scott has experience of patent litigation before the English High Court and Court of Appeal in a range of industry sectors; including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and medical devices.
Since becoming a member of the British Columbia Bar, Scott has represented clients in intellectual property disputes before the British Columbia Supreme Court and the British Columbia Court of Appeal as well as the Federal Court of Canada.
