Selena has been involved in proceedings before all levels of Court in Canada, and before government agencies, including Health Canada and the Canadian Intellectual Property Office. She has provided representation for clients on intellectual property and information issues in a variety of industries, including pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, construction, food and beverage, information technology and consumer goods. Her principal areas of practice are the following:

• Intellectual property litigation matters, including actions for infringement of patents and trade-marks;
• Judicial review proceedings in respect of patent matters and federal access to information matters;
• Transactional opinion work on patent validity, technology clearance and infringement issues;
• Prosecution of patents and industrial designs; and
• Management of intellectual property portfolios.

Selena has a technical background in the life sciences area, having completed a graduate degree in molecular biology where she conducted laboratory research in the fields of genetics, regulation of gene expression, and pharmacology.
