Adam Zasada is a senior associate with Gowlings’ Waterloo Region office. Adam acts for clients throughout Ontario in a broad range of general civil and commercial litigation matters. Adam’s special area of interest and primary area of practice is construction law and litigation and he is the Waterloo Region Office Group Leader for Gowlings’ Construction National Practice Group.
In his construction law practice, Adam advises and represents a diverse range of clients with respect to a variety of construction issues, a few of which include:
- construction deficiency claims;
- construction liens and matters related to the Ontario Construction Lien Act and British Columbia Builders Lien Act;
- procurement - bidding, tendering, RFPs and RFPQs;
- construction contract disputes such as delay claims, default and terminations, warranty enforcement, and claims with respect to changes and extras;
- review and advice regarding construction contracts (CCDC, CCA, non-standard forms) and supplementary conditions to standard forms.
Outside of his construction law practice, Adam regularly acts for individuals and businesses requiring assistance with debt collection, contract disputes, corporate and shareholder litigation, real estate litigation, tort actions, and select personal injury claims.
Prior to returning to his hometown of Kitchener-Waterloo and joining Gowlings in 2008, Adam practiced law for approximately six years at a large, full-service business law firm in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Adam has advocated for clients in the Provincial and Supreme Courts of British Columbia, the British Columbia Court of Appeal, and the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. Adam also has experience with mediation and arbitration and readily engages these alternative methods of dispute resolution when appropriate.
