Alanna Lawson is an associate in Gowlings' Ottawa office where she acts as a member of Gowlings' Advocacy Group and Public Procurement Group.
Alanna graduated from the University of Ottawa’s French common law program in 2009. In 2010, she completed the University of Ottawa’s national program, graduating with a civil law degree. Alanna completed her undergraduate degree at Carleton University, where she majored in criminology with a concentration in psychology.
During law school, Alanna worked at Gowlings as a summer law student preparing legal documents including medical defence law, health law, contract law, family law, insurance law, commercial litigation, and government affairs.
Alanna is fluent in English and French. During her legal studies, Alanna was actively involved in the University of Ottawa’s Community Legal Clinic, where she worked as a student case worker and division leader in the Criminal Division for two years. She was also active in the school’s Criminal Law Student Association, joining their executive committee in her final year of common law. While in the National program, Alanna was asked to sit on the Conseil de la Section de droit civil where she participated in council meetings with the program’s Dean and academic administrators as the representative for all fourth year common law students.
