Alex S. Ross is a lawyer and registered Canadian patent agent in the Intellectual Property Group of the Hamilton office. His practice includes all areas of intellectual property law, in particular patent drafting and prosecution, preparation of patent infringement and validity opinions, and advising on patent strategy, with a focus on mechanical devices and computer and information technology.
Alex received an LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School, where he was awarded the Silver Medal for standing second over all throughout three years of law school. Alex was called to the Ontario Bar in 2003, and received the Law Society Second Prize for standing third overall in the bar admission examinations. Alex also holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Toronto, where he was awarded the W.S. Wilson Medal.
Alex was awarded both the J. Edward Maybee Memorial Prize for highest standing and the Marie F. Morency Memorial Prize for proficiency in patent drafting for the 2004 Patent Agent Qualifying Examinations. Alex has also worked as an in-house intellectual property lawyer at the Canadian subsidiary of a major international technology company.
