Anand Athiviraham is an articling student in Gowlings’ Waterloo Region office.

Anand graduated with a Juris Doctor degree from Queen's University, Faculty of Law.  While in law school, Anand was awarded the course prize in Contract Law, as well as the Senator Frank Carrel Upper-Year Scholarship.  He was also a volunteer editor for the Queen's Law Journal and a competitor in the Corporate and Securities Law Moot.  Anand  had the unique opportunity of working as a first-year summer student at an established business law firm in Chennai, India, where he worked on cases involving commercial law, technology law and IP.

Anand is the founder of an e-commerce company offering webhosting, domain management and web design services to over a thousand clients worldwide, which he has operated since 2004.  He was recently nominated for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

As an undergraduate, Anand worked as a research assistant at the Genome Quebec Innovation Centre, Douglas Hospital in Montreal and McGill University Pain Genetics Lab.

Anand is fluent in English and French, and knowledgeable in Spanish and Tamil.
