André Rivest is a partner in Gowlings' Montréal office, and the leader of the Mortgage Recovery Services Group. He practises in banking and commercial litigation with a particular emphasis on recovery.

He mainly acts for financial institutions for recovery of mortgage loans or unsecured claims. André and Gowlings’ Recovery Services Group offer a comprehensive defaulting portfolio management service.

André also practises in advertising law. He reviews and pre-approves advertisements for print media, radio, television and the Internet. In this regard, André advises national and international corporations with respect to their obligations in terms of advertising and marketing in Québec.

André has acted in numerous contractual matters and in matters of enforcement of security on real estate or moveable property. He has appeared before aIl level of courts in Québec as well as a number of administrative tribunals.

André speaks at conferences and publishes articles on a regular basis. He has taught commercial law at the Faculty of Management at McGill University and bankruptcy and insolvency at the Bar admission courses.

André practises in English and French. He is also fluent in German.
