Aubrey Lasky is an associate in the Firm's Waterloo Region office where he works in the business law department.
Aubrey advises on a broad range of corporate transactions. His practice focuses on domestic and cross-border M&A, corporate finance, fund formations, joint ventures and IPOs. He advises both public and private clients and has particular expertise in global multi-jurisdiction corporate transactions. In addition, Aubrey also represents technology and media clients in relation to the protection and exploitation of intellectual property rights.
Aubrey acts for businesses in a variety of sectors with an emphasis in the financial services, manufacturing, technology and media sectors. Aubrey also has experience in the corporate real estate sector where he advises on real estate joint ventures and the establishment and structuring of real estate funds.
Aubrey is a qualified lawyer in both Ontario and the United Kingdom. He plays an active role in the Firm’s London office and advises U.K. clients on their Canadian strategies, as well as Canadian clients in relation to U.K. fundraisings and out-bound investment through M&A into the U.K.
Prior to joining Gowlings, Aubrey practiced corporate law at top-tier firms in London, England and Toronto, Ontario.
- Advised a TSX-listed REIT on a short form prospectus offering of treasury and secondary units on a bought deal basis to a syndicate of underwriters.
- Advised an ASX-listed marketing services company on an international roll-up of advertising agencies involving nine jurisdictions and aggregate consideration of over £50 million.
- Advised the management team of U.K.’s leading artisan bakery and café chain on a private equity-backed management buyout in a deal worth £22.5 million.
- Advised an NYSE-listed pharmaceutical company on acquiring two chemical manufacturing divisions in the U.K. for consideration of over £35 million.
- Acted for an AMEX-quoted client on its US$3.6 billion reverse acquisition of Europe’s largest hedge fund manager.
- Advised a syndicated institutional fund on the sale of a property SPV that owned commercial real estate in London, England for consideration of £330 million.
- Acted for the sellers of an Australian online gaming software company on a Guernsey share-for-share exchange and subsequent trade sale worth A$45 million.
- Negotiated television talent agreements opposite ITV Studios, the largest television production studio in the U.K.
- Completed IPOs and various fundraisings for several issuers on the TSX Venture Exchange.
- Launched several syndicated property funds with institutional investors to acquire commercial real estate across Canada.
