Christopher Pibus is a partner in Gowling’s Toronto office, practising in the area of intellectual property litigation. His practice touches on all aspects of intellectual property, including patents, designs, copyright and trade-marks.
Christopher has extensive experience in strategic portfolio management for IP assets in Canada and internationally. For many years, he has maintained a significant practice relating to counterfeit products, transshipping and parallel imports.
Christopher acts as an advocate before the Federal Court (Trial Division and Court of Appeal) and all levels of Ontario courts. He has appeared as counsel of record in more than 40 reported decisions.
In 2004, Christopher was appointed as a panelist for WIPO’s domain name panel in Geneva. Since that time, he has written over 60 decisions and developed a substantial practice in domain name disputes. In addition, Christopher has acted as an Arbitrator for the Independent Film & Television Alliance (“IFTA”).
Christopher has recently presented papers on patent litigation, domain name disputes, misleading advertising and counterfeit enforcement, and has written the chapter on Anton Piller Orders in Canada for Intellectual Property Disputes: Resolutions and Remedies (Thomson/Carswell).
