Christopher Fournier is a partner in Gowlings' Ottawa office, practising in the area of banking and insolvency law on behalf of financial institutions, insolvency firms, corporations and individuals and is engaged, as well, in the practice of commercial law. His commercial law practice includes incorporation and the formation of other business entities such as partnerships and joint ventures, the negotiation and preparation of various commercial agreements including shareholders, franchise, licensing and joint venture agreements and acting with respect to the divestiture and acquisition of business enterprises. Christopher is also a member of Gowlings' Real Estate Practice Group and in that capacity provides advice with respect to all aspects of real estate matters including purchase and sale, financing and leasing.

Prior to joining Gowlings in 1990, Christopher carried on his own general practice with particular emphasis upon litigation and real estate. In 1975, he became a partner with Perley-Robertson, Panet, Hill & McDougall and in 1985 joined Lang, Michener, Lawrence & Shaw as a partner.

He has accumulated extensive experience in the negotiation and drafting of complex commercial documentation including loan agreements, security documentation, shareholders agreements, asset and share purchase agreements, and commercial leases and construction documentation. In particular, he has worked extensively in the preparation of opinions in complex intercreditor and creditor debtor disputes.
