Clare Salisbury is a principal of the intellectual property department of Gowlings’ Vancouver office. Her practice involves the preparation and prosecution of national and international patent applications as well as industrial design applications. Clare has a broad range of clients from various industries, including agriculture, clean energy, biotechnology, composite materials, universities, oil & gas and manufacturing. Clare helps her clients with strategic patent counselling and assists companies in managing their intellectual property portfolios.

In addition to being a registered patent agent in Canada, Clare is also a European patent attorney and chartered U.K. patent attorney.

Prior to joining Gowlings, Clare worked for a U.K. patent attorney firm and has significant experience in preparing and prosecuting European and U.K. patents as well as European opposition work and oral hearings before the European Patent Office. She also has extensive experience drafting and prosecuting patents in Canada, the U.S. and other countries.
