Darren Taylor is a partner in Gowlings' Calgary office, practising in the areas of commercial real estate and business law.
Darren acts for a number of developers and business clients with respect to their real estate matters. He has represented clients on the acquisition, financing, disposition and development of various real estate assets, including bare land, industrial buildings, office towers, and shopping centres.
In addition, Darren advises clients on leasing issues, and regularly advises landlords and tenants on lease drafting and negotiations for various real estate assets. He also assists clients on an ongoing basis on leasing matters, including amendments, extensions, renewals and defaults.
Darren has extensive experience representing both sides of a financing transaction, and has acted for both lenders and borrowers on separate matters. He has acted on behalf of large institutional lenders, as well as a number of small, private lenders. These financings have been made to a variety of properties and portfolios of properties.
Beyond transactions strictly related to real estate, Darren also advises clients on general business transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions of businesses, and the structure business transactions.
