David Rubin is a partner in Gowlings' Toronto office. He has more than 40 years of experience in a variety of areas, including corporate, commercial, foreign investment, real estate, charities and creditors' rights.
David served as an officer in the Reserve Armed Forces Intelligence Branch, and for 13 years had an appointment as an aide-de-camp to the Honourable W. Ross Macdonald, the Honourable Pauline M. McGibbon and the Honourable John B. Aird, Lieutenant-Governors of Ontario. He is presently Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel of 2 Intelligence Company, a combat deployable Primary Reserve Unit in the Greater Toronto Area.
During his long-time association with the Firm, David has served in a number of key functions. He has been head of the real estate and the business law departments in Toronto, chair of the Firm's National Real Estate Practice Group, chair of the Firm's Israel Initiative Group as well as a member of the Toronto office management committee. A contributor of articles to various trade and professional publications, David is currently chair of the board of associate editors of the Commercial Law League of America, which publishes the DePaul Business & Commercial Law Journal and Debt3. Over the years, his many contributions have included articles on foreign investment, debt collection and personal property security. He has also delivered numerous papers to conferences both in the United States and abroad.
David was chair of the publication committee of Scarlet to Green, A History of Intelligence in The Canadian Army and was chair and co-editor of the monthly Intelligence Security Diary for several years.
