Dean Saul is a partner in Gowlings' Ottawa office, acting as commercial and administrative law counsel to the transportation industry.
As the senior member of the Firm’s Transportation Industry National Practice Group, Dean's transportation law practice includes professional representation for the road, rail, air and intermodal transportation industries. In addition to his expertise in m&a transactions of North American transportation businesses, Dean also represents those companies on regulatory and contractual issues, Competition Act and Investment Canada filings, labour relations matters, claims, Workers’ Compensation and safety matters and trade and customs issues.
Dean is an advocate before administrative tribunals and commissions across Canada, including the Canadian Transportation Agency, as well as several provincial transportation related regulatory commissions. Dean lectures on transportation matters to the International Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Canadian Transport Lawyers’ Association, the Ontario Trucking Association, the Canadian Trucking Alliance, the Canadian Industrial Transportation Association, the American Trucking Associations and the United States Transportation Lawyers Association. In addition, he has presented lectures to the special educational programs of the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Canadian Bar Association.
