D. Doak Horne is a partner in Gowlings’ Calgary office, practising in the area of intellectual property litigation. Doak is a Registered Patent Agent in Canada and the United States, as well as a registered professional engineer. He has been involved in preparation, filing, and prosecution of patents, trade-marks, and industrial designs before the Canadian Patent and Trade-marks Office, as well as compulsory licensing matters and trade mark opposition proceedings.

Doak has experience in the areas of trade secrets and passing off actions, as well as actions involving ownership of intellectual property rights. He has appeared before federal, Alberta and Ontario courts in matters relating to patents, trade-marks, copyrights and industrial designs and related matters, including employment issues (breach of fiduciary duty) and contractual disputes.
