Edward Johnston is an associate in the Toronto office of Gowlings, practising corporate, commercial law, with extensive exposure to mergers and acquisitions, finance and private equity/venture capital investments. His clients come from diverse industry sectors including financial services, technology, auto parts, waste management, steel, energy and institutional real estate.

Ed is involved in the structuring of private equity, real estate and infrastructure asset class investment products and has represented market participants in creating investment structures to maximize returns and minimize risk for institutional real estate investors. In this capacity, he is active in the creation of limited partnerships, co-ownerships and Section 149 pension realty corporations on behalf of many of Canada’s leading pension funds and asset managers. Ed also has experience advising Canadian institutional investors in connection with their investments in a broad range of hedge funds in the North American marketplace.
