Éric Thibaudeau joined Gowlings’ Montréal office in 2007. He practises in the area of labour and employment law.
Mr. Thibaudeau represents and advises the management of various corporations, especially in matters related to occupational health and safety, labour relations and collective agreement decrees. He pleads both before administrative tribunals and the regular courts of law, particularly in matters falling under the purview of the Commission des lésions professionnelles, the Commission des relations du travail and of the Commissaire de l’industrie de la construction. He also acts as a prosecutor in issues pertaining to grievance arbitration, regulatory penal action and extraordinary actions.
Mr. Thibaudeau acts as a negotiator and as such, in 2007, he was a member of the employer team and participated in the negotiation of the collective agreement in the construction industry’s residential sector. He was also spokesperson for an employer organization within the framework of arguments before the Commission permanente des institutions of the Assemblée nationale du Québec, on the subject of the Act to amend the Act respecting administrative justice.
Before joining Gowlings, Mr. Thibaudeau was legal coordinator with respect to labour relations for the litigation section of the Association provinciale des constructeurs d’habitations du Québec (APCHQ). He also acted as prosecutor for the litigation section of labour relations for the Association de la construction du Québec (ACQ).
He also lectures at the certificate and bachelor’s degree level in the construction engineering program of the École de technologie supérieure, as well as acting as administrator for the Fondation du CSSS d’Ahuntsic et Montréal-Nord.
He practises law in French and English.
