Florence Lucas is a partner at Gowlings’ Montréal office, practising in the areas of civil and commercial litigation. She specializes in intellectual property, media and entertainment law, as well as civil proceedings pertaining to the procurement and execution of extraordinary orders and interim orders such as seizures, injunctions and Anton Piller or Mareva type orders. She was called to the Québec Bar and the Paris Bar, and has had the opportunity to plead before courts both in Québec and France.
She has been teaching the Entertainment Law course at the Law Faculty of the University of Sherbrooke since January 2006, as well as the course entitled Aspects juridiques de l'édition at the Humanities Faculty.
She joined Gowlings in December 2000, after having practised at an important firm specialized in entertainment law in Paris, France. Among the most notable cases she acted in, it is worth mentioning that she represented Claude Robinson and his production house Nilem Inc. in the high profile Robinson v. Cinar and al. case. In a proceeding that lasted close to eight months, the author Claude Robinson won his case in a ruling by the Honorable Justice Claude Auclair s.c.j., August 26th, 2009.
