Forbes Newman is a partner in Gowlings' Calgary office, practising extensively in the oil and gas, and corporate commercial areas.

Mr. Newman has provided extensive opinion work on various oil and gas matters including freehold lease, farmout and joint venture agreement issues. He has negotiated and acted for buyers and sellers in numerous transactions involving the purchase and sale of shares of public and private oil and gas companies as well as the purchase and sale of oil and gas assets. He has negotiated and drafted various oil and gas industry agreements including pooling, farmout, operating, joint venture and limited partnership agreements. He frequently acts for private and public oil and gas companies and provides advice on many corporate commercial matters.

Mr. Newman has been a partner with Ballem MacInnes (one of Gowlings' predecessor firms in Calgary) since 1979.
