François Dandonneau is a partner in Gowlings’ Montréal office, practising in the areas of constitutional and administrative law, with an emphasis on Aboriginal law, notably with Cree governmental and paragovernmental entities from the James Bay and Northern Québec territory.

François has been involved in several proceedings and has also played a major role in many litigation cases pertaining to civil liability and labour law. He has also pleaded before all common law tribunals and some administrative tribunals. In addition to the drafting of legislation for the Kahnawake community, he has been involved in important negotiations of agreements and contracts with the different levels of government and crown corporations, related to various matters such as commercial leases within the aboriginal community and relations with Hydro-Québec.

Before joining Gowlings he worked for 10 years within the legal department of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake.

He is the author of various articles and columns in La Presse juridique.

He practises both in English and in French.
