Frank Lamie is an associate in the advocacy department of Gowlings' Toronto office, practising in the area of civil litigation with an emphasis on commercial litigation. As a member of the Gowlings Insolvency and Restructuring Practice Group, Frank also acts on a wide range of commercial and consumer bankruptcy and insolvency matters.
Frank appears on behalf of clients before the Superior Court of Justice, including the Bankruptcy Court and Commercial List, the Ontario Court of Justice, and various administrative tribunals, including the Financial Services Tribunal, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, and the Appeal Division of the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada.
Frank regularly assists senior bankruptcy and insolvency counsel in the areas of corporate restructuring, bankruptcy, receiverships and enforcement of creditors' rights and remedies. Frank’s practice also comprises class actions, jurisdictional contests, contractual disputes, negligence claims and regulatory offence matters. Frank also has experience obtaining extraordinary injunctive relief on behalf of clients, including Mareva injunctions, Anton Piller Orders and preservation Orders.
Frank articled and summered with Gowlings after obtaining his Bachelor of Laws. During a portion of his articles, he was seconded to a chartered financial institution's general counsel where he worked on litigation and corporate matters. Prior to joining Gowlings, Frank had the privilege of summering and working throughout law school at a litigation law firm in London, Ontario where he worked on commercial and insurance defence matters.
