Goldie Bassi is an associate in the advocacy department at Gowlings' Toronto office, working with the Employment and Occupational Health and Safety Law National Practice Groups.
Goldie represents employers, supervisors, and other workplace parties in defending against charges under occupational health and safety legislation and appealing Inspectors' Orders. She also has significant experience in representing employers at Coroners' Inquests and has appeared before all levels of Court in Ontario as well the Workplace Safety Insurance Board.
In addition to providing legal representation, Goldie advises clients on how to proactively meet their obligations under occupational health and safety legislation and provides advice on identifying any gaps in their occupational health and safety management systems.
Goldie has given numerous presentations and management training seminars on a wide range of occupational health and safety topics, including due diligence, risk management, anti-smoking laws, workplace harassment and violence, and the Bill C-45 amendments to the Criminal Code, which have expanded the scope of liability for organizations and individuals for occupational health and safety.

Goldie has authored numerous articles on occupational health and safety law. She is the co-author of the second edition of Human Resources Guide to Preventing Workplace Violence as published by Canada Law Book, and is currently co-authoring a title on workplace health, safety and compensation for Halsbury's Laws of Canada as published by LexisNexis.
