Guy Régimbald is an associate in Gowlings' Ottawa office practising in the areas of constitutional law, administrative law, aboriginal law and government relations. He is a member of the Firm’s Government Affairs Industry Group, the Copyright National Practice Group, the Aboriginal Law Group as well as the Life Sciences Industry Group.
His advocacy includes representing clients before all levels of courts and administrative tribunals. Notably, Guy has appeared as counsel or agent before the Supreme Court of Canada, and as counsel before the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Ontario Superior Court, the Federal Court, the Court of Appeal for the Northwest Territories, the Supreme Court of the Northwest Territories as well as the Yukon Supreme Court.
Guy regularly provides advice on matters of general administrative law and governmental relations as well as in copyright and trade-marks, in food law and other life sciences/pharmaceutical issues. In his constitutional law practice, Guy advises clients on division of powers and other regulatory issues as well as the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Guy’s practice is also focused on Aboriginal and treaty rights, self-government, Aboriginal consultation and accommodation and First Nation taxation. Guy advises and represents First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities across Canada.
Prior to joining Gowlings, Guy clerked for the Honourable Mr. Justice Rothstein and the Honourable Mr. Justice Major of the Supreme Court of Canada, as well as for Mr. Justice Marc Noël at the Federal Court of Appeal. Guy also worked for the Department of Justice in the Constitutional and Administrative Law Section, the Privy Council of Canada in Intergovernmental Affairs, and was a part-time professor in Constitutional Law, Administrative Law and International Law at the University of Ottawa.
Guy practises law in both official languages. Guy has published articles in peer reviewed law journals in the areas of Administrative Law and Constitutional Law.
