Dr. Irina Dashkova is an associate in Gowlings Waterloo Region office. Her practice involves business/corporate and securities law matters including commercial agreements, merger transactions, share and asset purchase agreements, shareholder agreements, corporate governance matters, general corporate advice, as well as public and private equity and debt financing, including initial public offerings and private placements, stock option plans, and other securities-related matters.

Irina was called to the Ontario Bar in 2007 and has been qualified to practice law in Russia since 2001.

From 1999 to 2003 Irina was an in-house counsel for a Moscow-based finance company where she supervised cross-border financings, mergers and acquisitions, and other corporate matters. During the same period of time Irina worked as an Assistant Professor at the Moscow Pedagogical University teaching commercial law.

Irina received her JD (LLB) and Master of Laws (LLM) in securities law from the University of Toronto in 2003 - 2006 and also received her JD (LLB) and LLM in business law from the Moscow State Academy of Law in 1999 - 2001 respectively. She obtained her PhD in banking law from the Moscow Humanitarian-Social Academy in 2004. Irina holds a Canadian Securities Course Certificate.

Irina is a member of the Canadian and Ontario Bar Association and the Waterloo Law Association. She is a board member of the Canada Eurasia Russia Business Association (CERBA), Toronto chapter. She is also an adviser for the Center for Family Business (CFFB).
