James Blonde is an associate in Gowlings' Toronto office, practising in the area of intellectual property, with a focus on intellectual property litigation. James has assisted on a number of patent, trade-mark and copyright litigation matters before the Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal.
Prior to entering the practice of law, James worked for several years a researcher in a structural biology laboratory. He contributed to projects related to cancer, malaria, heart disease and bacterial pathogenesis.
While attending Queen's University, James investigated oilseed plant metabolism. His results were presented at national and international conferences and published in the Journal of Biological Chemistry, one of the leading academic journals in the field. His co-operative program at McMaster University allowed him to experience the research-based pharmaceuticals industry and to study the molecular biology of cancer.
