Johanne Baril is a paralegal in Gowlings’ Montréal office. She specializes in the real estate, financing and financial services sectors.
In her work, Johanne performs diverse tasks pertaining to Québec’s Land Registry, drafts short reports with regard to it, participates in the drafting of acts needing to be published in it, and sees to their publication in the various offices of publication of rights in Québec. She performs verifications in cities, municipalities and school boards. Johanne also performs searches in other government registers such as : the Québec enterprise registrar (Registraire des entreprises du Québec), Industry Canada’s data base, the Register of personal and moveable real rights of Québec, the securities registration system – the Bank Act, the Office of the Superintendant of Bankruptcy Canada, as well as perusing in civil litigation, statutory, penal and criminal registers, and the Federal Court of Canada's appeals and first instances registers. She participates in the production and publication of some registrations in the Register of personal and moveable real rights of Québec. She also drafts reports on search results in the abovementioned registers.
Johanne has been a member of the Montréal Business Law Group since January 2006. Before that, she worked with lawyers specializing in real estate, corporate law and succession law. She has been a member of Gowlings since September 1972.
