John Fingret is a partner in the Real Estate, Environmental and Urban Development Group working out of Gowlings’ Toronto office. With a practice primarily focused in real estate, John advises clients on the acquisition and divestiture of commercial properties, construction agreements, commercial leasing and joint ventures.

John has been involved in some of Canada’s most significant real estate transactions, including the largest real estate and joint venture transaction in Canadian history, being the recent purchase of a 24-office tower portfolio. He also represents some of the country’s largest retailers in connection with their leasing, licensing and distribution agreements.

Experienced in mining law, John has negotiated joint ventures and mining agreements for some of Canada’s largest uranium mining joint ventures spanning multiple jurisdictions.

John has been teaching at the University of Toronto in its Facility Management program since 2000.
