His involvement with the health and medical community includes being the past chair of the Ottawa Hospital Foundation.

A published writer, Mr. Evans has contributed numerous articles to a variety of health and medical publications, including The Canadian Medical Association Journal (CMAJ), The Journal of Canadian Family Physicians and Health Law in Canada. He has also authored two works entitled "The Medical Legal Handbook "and "Consent to Treatment".

As a practitioner in medical law, he has frequently engaged in delivering lectures on topics related to his field of practice. These engagements include lecture series for the Canadian Medical Protective Association and a host of other multiple medical specialists meetings.
