Kent Ledwell is a partner in Gowlings' Ottawa office practising in the area of patents and industrial designs with an emphasis on originating patent drafting and strategic advice for Canadian high technology, electronics and telecommunications companies. His main clients are leaders in wireless communications, embedded software and encryption technologies.
He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, and a registered Canadian Patent Agent.
Prior to joining Gowlings, Kent spent seven years in electrical project management and design, specializing in process instrumentation, electrical systems integration and control. Three of those years were spent with his own engineering consulting firm. His projects include numerous water and wastewater treatment plants in Eastern Ontario. Kent often speaks and writes on software patents and patent strategy, and assists in the training of junior patent agents within Gowlings. He is also a speaker with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office’s “Bank of Speakers” initiative.
