Leonard is a frequent author and lecturer on topics within his areas of practice for professional organizations such as the Canadian, San Francisco, American and International Bar Associations, Continuing Legal Education in B.C., Alberta, and Washington State, the Canadian and International Franchise Associations, and the Licensing Executives Society.

Leonard is a regular columnist for the Franchise Entrepreneur Magazine and the annual Canadian Business Franchise Handbook and Canadian Business Franchise Directory.

He is also an associate editor of the International Journal of Franchising Law, published in London, England and distributed worldwide, and a member of the Editorial Board of The Franchise and Distribution Journal, published in Montréal, Québec.
