Lisa S. M. Jamieson is an associate at Gowlings’ Calgary office, practising in the areas of energy and environmental regulatory law and administrative law. Lisa has represented clients before the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta, the Energy Resources Conservation Board, the Alberta Utilities Commission, the National Energy Board, the Alberta Environmental Appeals Board, the Alberta Court of Appeal and the Federal Court of Appeal.
Lisa is the vice-chair of the Alberta CBA Environmental Section for 2010-2011 and has been a member of the executive since 2007. She is also a member of the CBA Natural Resources Section. She has presented at various conferences on issues regarding energy regulation, water use in the energy industry, climate change, fundamentals of environmental law in Alberta, and has previously conducted training on environmental due diligence.
Lisa counsels commercial and energy industry clients with respect to a variety of energy and regulatory issues including the regulation of transmission facilities, offshore development, utilities and energy facilities licensing and approvals processes. She also provides advice on issues of environmental regulation and liability concerns, including climate change, contaminated lands, air and water emissions, waste, environmental reporting, environmental issues in commercial transactions, and corporate as well as officer and director environmental compliance concerns. Lisa's time working in the legal departments of two large oil and gas companies has provided her with the insight and exposure to a wide variety of regulatory and environmental issues relevant to industry.
Lisa is currently serving as a member of the Resource Development Committee for the Alberta Emerald Foundation. Lisa has instructed courses on the essentials of occupational health and safety and environmental law for the Canadian Society of Safety and Engineering.
