Mark Ledwell is a partner in Gowlings’ Toronto office and incoming leader of the firm’s Financial Services Group.
With over thirty years’ experience as a lawyer in both Canada and the United Kingdom, Mark practises in the areas of banking and finance, energy and infrastructure, construction, project and trade finance, agri-food, and government relations.
Much of Mark’s practice involves advising banks and financial services companies, including investment banks, private equity firms, sovereign funds and sponsors. Working closely with clients in Canada, Europe, Russia, China, Korea and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, he applies his in-depth legal expertise and global connections to help businesses succeed.
Mark also possesses the extensive knowledge and experience to help clients trade with confidence in markets around the world, and provides comprehensive trade advisory legal services to facilitate domestic and international transactions.
Prior to his current role, Mark served as managing partner of Gowlings’ London (UK) office for three years. In this position, he held responsibility for the firm’s London operations, and provided strategic direction to one of the top energy, infrastructure and mining teams in Europe.
Mark also holds significant experience in major project development, having spent seven years in leadership roles in the infrastructure and construction industries.
