Mark Tamminga became a partner with Gowlings in 1993 and served as Office Managing partner for Gowlings' Hamilton office from 2008 to 2011. In 2012 he took on the role of leader of innovation initiatives at Gowlings. In this capacity he will be looking for and implementing new models of legal service delivery as well as fostering a culture of innovation at the firm. 

He practises in real estate law and recovery services, with a focus on mortgage remedies, creditors' rights and general insolvency. He also has a particular interest in the area of practice automation software tools for lawyers, and has designed and built more many such systems in the past 20 years. 

Mark is a regular presenter on the subject of automation in legal practice and has participated in numerous technology conferences in Canada and the United States. From 1999 to 2003 he was a member of the planning board for the American Bar Association's Annual Techshow Conference, assuming the role of vice-chair in 2002 and chair in 2003. He is a fellow with the College of Law Practice Management.
