Melanie Choch is a partner in Gowlings’ Calgary office practising in the area of corporate and commercial law where she services Canadian and foreign clients, both public and private, in connection with a broad range of business and tax driven transactions. She has expertise with a wide range of industries including media and telecommunications, franchising, manufacturing and distribution, health care and insurance.

Melanie’s practice focuses primarily on mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, reorganizations and capital restructuring, start-up operations and incorporations, and debt and equity financings. Melanie also assists clients with a variety of commercial matters in areas related to franchising and licensing, financing, technology, supply and distribution, labour and employment, corporate governance, joint ventures, shareholders agreements and partnerships. She also provides advice to corporations and individuals on Canadian and international income tax and estate planning.

Melanie has completed Parts 1 and 2 of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants In-Depth Tax Course, as well as, the Canadian Bar Association's Tax Law for Lawyers Course.
