Mélanie Vadeboncoeur is an associate in Gowlings' Ottawa office, practising in the Advocacy Group. Her area of expertise is medical malpractice defence. In the context of civil actions, she conducts examinations for discovery, participates in mediations and settlement conferences, argues motions, and drafts legal documents. Mélanie also provides assistance to physicians with respect to various regulatory issues, such as discipline hearings, complaints and appeals.
Her past experience includes working in civil litigation with an emphasis on health, commercial and insurance law. In her health law practice, Mélanie provided advice to health care institutions on various legal issues and acted on their behalf with medical malpractice suits. She also acted on behalf of numerous insurers in respect to personal injury, general liability and professional negligence claims. Part of her practice also involved representing owners, developers, and contractors with respect to issues relating to all types of commercial disputes.
