Michael Polowin is a partner in Gowlings' Ottawa office, practising in the area of commercial real estate and municipal and planning law. In his real estate practice, he advises financial institutions and property owners on the acquisition, disposition and financing of real property in Ottawa and throughout Ontario. He has acted with respect to some of the largest and most complex real property transactions in the Ottawa area, including sports arenas, power centres, office complexes, residential developments and public-private partnerships, both for government and the private sector.
In his municipal and planning practice, Michael advises and represents clients through the full spectrum of the development process. He has acted for some of the largest developers in Canada, and has been involved in developments throughout the Ottawa area and Southern Ontario. Michael also acts on behalf of municipalities in Eastern Ontario on planning and development and public-private partnership matters.
Michael has practised law in Ottawa since 1985 and prior to joining Gowlings in 2005, he was a partner with another major law firm where his practice focused on commercial real property and municipal and planning law.
