Patricia is a partner in Gowlings' Calgary office.
Patricia’s practice focuses on corporate finance, securities, environmental, and climate change matters. Before joining Gowlings, Patricia was the Associate Director of Corporate Finance at the Alberta Securities Commission. Patricia participated in and chaired a number of national committees that developed harmonized securities rules and provided oversight of operational matters involving the review and receipting of prospectuses, continuous disclosure reviews, cease trade and revocation of cease trade orders, rights offerings, and applications for exemptive relief.
Patricia was a senior lawyer with the Alberta Justice and spent seven years with Alberta Environment developing all the environmental regulations and implementing the environmental regulatory structure for the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act.
Before her call to the Alberta Bar in 1981, Patricia received a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) at the University of British Columbia, and a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Alberta.
Patricia’s environmental and climate change work includes:
- Counsel to developer of Alberta offset project;
- Counsel to vendors of offset credits to regulated facilities under Alberta legislation;
- Advisor on securities laws implication for carbon transactions; and
- Advisor for developer of brownfield sites.
Patricia is a regular contributor to Alberta Oil magazine, Point Carbon magazine and has presented at:
