Peter Fairey is a partner in Gowlings’ Vancouver office, practising in the Business Law Group. He brings a broad range of experience in corporate/commercial transactions, as well as a general knowledge of tax, securities, trusts, and immigration law to his other areas of practice on behalf of clients in the P3, life sciences, entertainment, publishing and IT and alternative energy industries.
He is a past Director and Chair of the Board of Directors of the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia and a past Governor of the Law Foundation of British Columbia.

- The acquisition and disposition of operating businesses throughout Canada and the Western United States, most recently on behalf of large U.S. and China based acquirors and dealing with, amongst other things, trans-border issues;
- several private placements and innovative financings;
- acted in the establishment of a joint venture operating an electronic consumer goods trading hub in the United Arab Emirates;
- acting for a railway technology company from start-up to several hundred million dollar capitalization public company with worldwide sales;
- represented major California-based electronic games corporation in Canadian studio/product acquisition;
- the auction of PacifiCat Ferries in Vancouver;
- P3 Projects, including on behalf of the Province of British Columbia with respect to the Canada Line and for private sector proponents in connection with port, highway, hospital and other infrastructure projects;
- governance and ownership disputes;
- advising recognized fund managers and establishing unit trusts marketed primarily to institutional investors;
- counsel for the Province of British Columbia’s immigrant investor funds and previously over 50 other such funds;
- investments involving BC Transit and other governmental entities;
- acting for start-up businesses and junior companies in the technology and life science sectors;
- acting for a utility with respect to setting up a public/private regime for the provision of water and sewer services for a municipality; and
- advising several not for profit and/or charitable social enterprise and other groups.
