Pierre Boyer is a senior partner at Gowlings’ Montréal office. He practises in the fields of insurance litigation and civil litigation, acting for insurers.
Mr. Boyer has appeared before Courts of all levels of jurisdictions: Superior Court, Appeal Court, as well as the Supreme Court of Canada. He has also represented professionals before disciplinary committees and has taken part in mediations. He has had the opportunity to try cases in a wide variety of subjects: major personal injury claims, property and casualty claims, coverage issues, civil and professional liability, insurance law, life and disability insurance coverage, as well as civil law.
A substantial part of his practice stems from professional liability cases dealing with the above-mentioned subjects, where both the professional liability of the insured involved, as well as insurance coverage, are debated. Those cases involve doctors, health professionals, insurance brokers, claim adjusters, and other professionals.
This great diversity of cases lead him to work with experts in many fields of practice: doctors, nurses, engineers, consultants, chemists, underwriters, and many others. Mr. Boyer has delivered conferences to members of the insurance industry and has lectured at the École du Barreau du Québec to students preparing for the Québec Bar Exam.
