Robert Salisbury joined Gowlings as a partner in 1997 and continues his practice of guiding local, national and international companies to balance management needs and concerns with fair and sustainable employment practices. Rob represents major industrial and institutional employers in the Hamilton and Toronto regions on matters before the Ontario Labour Relations Board, Boards of Arbitration, the Pay Equity Tribunal, the Human Rights Commission, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board, the Employment Standards Branch of the Ministry of Labour and O.H.S.A. proceedings.
Rob has extensive experience representing employers on matters relating to employment contracts, wrongful dismissal actions, fiduciary obligations and contractual restrictions affecting employment relationships. Rob’s practice includes representation at all levels of Court.
Rob
has been and is:
- Counsel for employers before the OLRB on numerous proceedings dealing with such matters as construction industry union certification, construction industry grievances, construction industry jurisdiction disputes, Public Sector Labour Transition Act rationalization applications and unfair labour practices applications.
- Counsel for major public hospitals responsible for providing advice on multiple bargaining unit mergers and handling federal and provincial labour law conflicts.
- Counsel for national manufacturing organizations responsible for negotiations with Federal authorities and dispute resolution.
