Ruth Austin is a law clerk in Gowlings' Ottawa office working in the insurance defence group.
Ruth prepares all documentation related to insurance defence litigation, including pleadings, affidavits of documents, medical summaries, Evidence Act notices, pre-trial memoranda, and trial preparation. She interviews and co-ordinates witnesses for hearings and regularly retains experts to give opinions on files. She conducts investigations and is involved with all aspects of work within the insurance defence group.
She has extensive knowledge of the procedures under the Rules of Civil Procedure. She also has experience in the management and organization of large files and extensive experience in trial preparation. Ruth has been involved with numerous large claims involving property damage (fire loss, arson, break and enter and water damage claims) and motor vehicle accident litigation with respect to both tort and accident benefits claims, dealing with complicated liability aspects, including the damages issues that arise. Additionally, she has assisted at trials and Examinations for Discovery. |
