Shane R. Hopkins-Utter is an associate in Gowlings’ Vancouver office. His practice focuses on administrative law, environmental law, public inquiries, commercial litigation, and occupational health and safety.
In his first year-and-a-half of practice, Shane acted as junior counsel for a participant in a federal judicial inquiry into a high-profile environmental matter. He recently attended the Environmental Law Institute's Eighth Annual Western Boot Camp on Environmental Law in San Francisco, California.
During his articles at Gowlings’ Vancouver office, Shane also gained experience in insurance defence and product liability litigation, trade-marks litigation, conflict of laws and creditors’ remedies.
While studying law at the University of British Columbia, he was the editor-in-chief of the U.B.C. Law Review and the Canadian Bar Association student representative. He also volunteered for Pro Bono Students of Canada, and was awarded the Graduating Class of Law 1967 Award.
