Simon Labrecque is a partner in Gowlings' Montréal office, practising in business, commercial, corporate, and tax law. His practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, business sale transactions, financing, corporate tax, transactional tax and venture capital.
Simon acts as an external legal adviser and coordinates the legal needs of various clients from a wide array of industries including technology companies, manufacturing companies, venture capital funds, as well as financial services, personal investment, environmental and real estate companies, and various financial institutions.
Simon assists in the drafting and negotiation of various commercial agreements for local and international clients. He also works in the areas of tax planning, corporate restructuring and commodity tax. Furthermore, he participates in negotiations with tax authorities as well as in the development of specific taxation solutions. He also handles legal matters pertaining to pension plans.
Simon is also a member of Gowlings’ business integrity and anti-corruption compliance team.
Simon is Gowlings' international representative for the Taxand Global Real Estate Team.
Prior to joining Gowlings, he practised tax law in an internationally renowned accounting firm for three years.
Simon successfully completed the Réseau des jeunes administrateurs’ training program.
